Derick Visagie
CEO/Founder
Derick Visagie is a seasoned software professional with a wealth of experience in various integration, development, installation, and support environments spanning eighteen years. He possesses extensive knowledge in electronic security, integration, development, installation, and support environments, and places an unwavering focus on achieving exceptional results and delivering high levels of client satisfaction.
Derick is driven by his passion for providing innovative solutions to Autwi’s clients, and he is keen to explore collaborative opportunities with like-minded professionals to develop solutions. Previously, he managed the international NEC Facial Recognition AI Solutions Team at NEC XON, where he played a critical role in ensuring the successful deployment, integration, and development of new innovative solutions for facial recognition applications throughout Africa.
Additionally, Derick has a strong background as a client-facing engineer, hosting design sessions, conducting training, providing technical project management, and creating high-level Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) documentation. He consistently demonstrates his expertise and commitment to excellence, contributing to Autwi’s ongoing success.
Duncan Cooke
COO/Founder
Duncan Cooke, COO of Autwi, co-founded the company in 2020 after a 16-year tenure at FlowCentric Technologies, where he worked as a senior software developer and architect on international projects.
He has honed his skills over the last twenty years, contributing to the development of several world-class, internationally used software solutions that are designed to last. Duncan has extensive experience in project management, software development, business process management, systems integration, database architecture, IoT, training, and consultancy services.
Duncan currently manages the services and consultancy division at Autwi, which specialises in developing and managing workflow solutions in multi-platform technology stacks. Duncan and his team support companies like MegaMaster Group and consult for FlowCentric Technologies South Africa and Australia.
Notable companies that Duncan has work with include First Quantum Minerals, Austral, Flood Protection Agency, Aercap, NexGrill, and Central Development Properties Group. He is driven by a passion to create high-quality digital solutions that solve real-world problems and help companies to thrive.
Willie Botha
CTO/Founder
Willie Botha is an accomplished Biometric Software Specialist with over twenty years of experience in designing, developing, and managing complex software systems. Currently serving as the CTO at Autwi where he is also one of the founders. Willie oversees the implementation and management of software and technology related to all Identity Management solutions and all other technical areas that require solutions for Autwi’s clients.
During his tenure as the Development Manager at NEC Africa – Public Safety, Willie oversaw the implementation and management of software and technology related to Identity Management solutions and social solutions.
Before that at Face Technologies (Pty) Ltd, Willie held the role of Software Development Manager specialising in large scale Biometric Solutions mostly for government. He successfully managed resources, designed software architectures, and oversaw the development and implementation of software solutions for critical projects. Willie’s notable projects include the Sri Lanka Driving License System, the Ethiopia TIN System and Nigeria TIN System projects, where he served as a Software Management Development.
Willie contributed to the successful implementation of a driver’s license system in Uganda through the Uganda CDP project. He also led the development of biometric voter management solutions in Namibia, Swaziland, and Sierra Leone, overseeing transaction management, livescan integration, data capture, and biometric device integration.
Beyond individual projects, Willie played a vital role in the Core Development project at Face Technologies, focusing on the development of reusable functionality across multiple projects, including device integration, biometric integration, and utility development.
Prior to his role at Face Technologies, Willie gained valuable experience at Legalperfect, Transunion, and Mead & McGrouther respectivly, managing software development projects, implementing systems, and maintaining IT infrastructures as well as data analytics.
With his extensive background in biometric software development, project management, and technical leadership, Willie Botha brings a wealth of expertise to his role as Autwi CTO. His diverse experiences and proven track record, position him as a valuable asset in driving technological innovation and ensuring the successful implementation of cutting-edge solutions within Autwi.
